Shaun was born to an upper class family in the suburbs of San Diego, California in the winter of 1980. Unlike most wrestlers' childhoods, Shaun lived a fantastic childhood, the pride and joy of his parents, Stan and Mary. Stan Stetson was a lawyer to the stars, defending celebrities in every case possible. In fact, he defended Tim Allen in his 1978 court case for possession of 1.4 pounds of cocaine. He worked Tim down from life in prison to two years and four months. Mary Stetson was a homemaker, staying home with Shaun every day of his life until he was able to go to school. From then on, she stayed home baking goodies for Shaun and Stan to enjoy when they got home. Shaun enjoyed success early in life, making the high school JV baseball team when he was in seventh grade. This was the first time this had happened at Mission Bay High School, but it's no surprise that it's Shaun that did it. Shaun enjoyed a great high school baseball career, lettering his last four years. He earned all state honors his junior and senior year in high school, received a scholarship offer from UCLA, and was named an All American in his senior year. Shaun's father suggested he hire an agent and try to make it into Major League Baseball. Shaun hired an agent, (Arturo Mendoza) and was drafted in the third round of the 1999 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Shaun turned down all contract offers, though, saying he was worth more money than they offered him. Shaun's father and his agent agreed. In August of 1999, Shaun Stetson ran into Steve Michaels while working out at a gym. Shaun had been practicing wrestling at an amateur level for a possible run at the Olympics in 2004. Obviously, he never made that goal. In any event, he knew who Steve was right off the bat. Steve Michaels was a local wrestling legend in San Diego. He had seen Shaun practicing one day and thought he showed some real promise. Steve asked Shaun if he'd like to make some real money, and Shaun was in. Shaun signed on to be the newest member of Supreme Championship Wrestling. Shaun's run in SCW was short and sweet. He wasn't the main event just yet, but he showed signs of getting there. After just a few weeks, he secured the SCW International Heavyweight Championship, making him the youngest star in the history of the company to claim that title. While Shaun was the champion, the SCW disbanded (he still hangs the title on his wall). Shaun and Steve moved to the IeF. During their time in the IeF, Steve Michaels came down with a serious illness. It was a congenital heart disease that Steve eventually passed away from. This devastated Shaun, causing him to have to take some time off from pro wrestling. While Shaun was off, the Ultimate Wrestling Federation was scouting new talent. Tom Hart, director of talent, came across a tape of Shaun's from the IeF. He called Shaun and offered him a deal, which Shaun quickly turned down, saying he was done with wrestling. Shaun wanted nothing more to do with the sport that killed his mentor. Hart was persistent, though, calling Shaun every day, making the offer sweeter and sweeter. Finally, one day, Shaun told Hart to leave him alone. "No, I will not leave you alone. You've got something special, kid, and it'd be a bunch of bullshit to let you waste it." This was a real wake up call for Shaun. He finally accepted Hart's offer and joined the UWF, where he achieved quite a bit in only a year. Nearly a year into his UWF run, trouble with his wife, Dana, caused Shaun to take some time away from the ring (and later led to his divorce). He returned with a fire, though, even challenging Eddie Calhoune for the UWF World title on two occasions. However, controversy brought his relationship with the UWF to and end. Luckily for all of us, though, it brought him to the 3WA (and later to WCCW). Shaun has enjoyed quite a bit of success, here, earning himself the "legend" status he had always claimed to have. Shaun owns the record for 3WA world title reigns with four. Most in the WCCW look up to Shaun Stetson as the measuring bar. "If you can keep up with Shaun Stetson, then you're damn good," some of the other wrestlers say. But the truth is, nobody can keep up with this rising star. It may seem that he's made it to the top...but there's plenty more for Shaun to do. He still hasn't gone to the moon. Accomplishments: Notable Feuds: | ||||||||||||
